Let’s blog LOST tonight, okay? Let’s go, now.

Finishing up Fox’s mega karoke show, American Idol. Six minutes until LOST starts (CST). BIG WARNING. This post won’t make any any sense whatsover if you don’t watch the ABC show, LOST.

I’m hoping for some big reveals tonight. The major plotline tonight is going back into the two weeks Claire was abducted. Apparently, the island’s resident psychologist can bring back lost memories through some sort of hypnosis and therapy. I’m just giddy with excitement. First time blogging a show real time. I’ll post updates during the commercial breaks. We’re on the verge people.

Commercial break one:

Claire’s baby has a fever and Locke goes off to find Jack for help. While Locke is gone, guess who shows up? Crazy French woman. Tells Claire that the baby is infected. A weird flashback happens that gives me freakin’ chills. Hypodermics and a lab. Eeeek!

Commerical break two (screw the commerical breaks, I’m just updating when I feel it–BANK!)

It’s evening, Dr. Jack reassures Claire everything is just fine. No island infection. Let it run it’s course. Oooh, back to the captured Other. Awesome I was really hoping they’d pick up this storyline, again. Okay, going back into Claire’s past. Here it comes people.

WTF? Ethan was Claire’s doctor in Australia or was this on the island?? I’m going with Australia–Ethan’s hair looks different. More put together. So, the coincidences grow, right Heather?

So, Claire is convinced this appointment with Ethan happened on the island, and that Aaron is very sick from the island. She’s sure of it. Man, Charlie should of never capped Ethan. Crazy. Okay, this is insane. I’m sure none of this is making sense, but are those little planes, little Oceanic planes? Claire is back in the office with Ethan and shown a room for her baby. Ethan tells her she can turn on the mobile over the crib. Ethan is interrupted by an Other. Looks like the boss from Jack and Locke’s encounter in the jungle. Something wasn’t done right. So, are the Others all that bad? Hmm. I’m starting to agree with Rachel on the big social experiment.

Rosseau is taking Claire and Kate back to the room she had the appointment. But apparently she doesn’t know. Christi just asked a valid question, why wouldn’t Rosseau kills herself already? She has a gun. Hmmm, Rosseau, another philosopher.

Okay, what is up with the vaccine? Theory proposed, the world is infected and the island is a refuge, and the inhabitants are building a Noah’s ark?

Oh my, Claire just found big old bunker doors with the Dharma symbol on it. Off they go now, into the hatch. Place looks abandoned. Maybe something has gone terribly wrong for the Others, remember how shaggy and nasty the Other’s leader looked the first time? In the flashback he was looking dressed and coiffed.

So, the young teenage girl helps Claire out of the bunker. Rosseau carries her back to her camp after knocking her out cold with the butt of her rifle. A good question would be how does Rosseau connect with the Others? Obviously, they took her child too. Ah, so Rosseau’s daughter helped Claire escape. They’ve been on that island for so long.

So my new questions:

What is the infection?

Why does Eco confess to the prisoner and cut off his beard dreads? Good God.

Crafty sneaky captured Other sowing doubt and discord from his cell. Oh man, this guy is bad. Real bad news.

Hopefully, this will help answer some question when I look back on it this week. Often times, I forget the details of the show and when it comes to discussion, I mix things up. So, I know Rachel and Heather read this blog for LOST. What do you think?

  1. There was some significance to “Catch A Falling Star”. Was Claire singing it at one point earlier on in this season, or last?
What the shit is with Eco’s beard? That Other is one CRAFTY S.O.B. But IS he an Other?
Why the theatrical get-up? I’m back in Massive Psychological Experiment Mode. Were they going to hurt her and take her baby? Or was it an act? The beard Kate found was especially significant. Looks a lot like that Others leader (sub-leader? Who is “Him” as in “He’ll be angry” that Ethan’s making friendly with Claire?) Fisherman’s Friend get-up.
But then where are the (irritatingly absent) killer black clouds? Where is the Twin Peaks esque imagery?
I’m intensely dissatisfied with tonight’s episode.
(significant factors tonight: planes above the crib, the verification that Rousseau’s been there 16 years, so she’s not screwing around with them, she’s actually messed-up jungle woman, there are at least three hatches: why? are there more? is there significance to this one having the Caduceus as its symbol, other than being a medical hatch? If we’re going Greek, could Swan Base be representative of Zeus? What was Team Bombshelter’s hatch? I’m too lazy to look it up. This leaves room for nine other hatches.)
I’m starting to think that there was no plane crash. That it’s all a ruse.
How the hell do you get a horse on an island?

  2. I’m intensely dissatistfied with all the coincidences. I almost ignore them out of hand because there are too many to keep track of.

Anyhoo I recommend the blog “The Transmission”. A lot of coherent theories. I can’t follow the fuselage because there are too many shout-outs and trolls on their board to decipher people who are interested in watching the show and just punk ass kids being annoying.

Does anyone know what all this talk about the “Security System” is about? Also, over on the Transmission, when Claire, Kate and Rousseau entered the bunker, someone said they saw costumes (beards and ratty clothing) from Jack and party’s encounter with Zeke.

So what happened at this station? They abandoned it. Why? I think I need Tivo to properly watch this show.

Another question. What year is it on the island?

  3. I loved this episode. Hey, Teddy, I read and very rarely (because I’m not nearly as smart or resourceful as most of the people who DO) participate in this site’s discussions about LOST:

    http://www.toomuchfreetime.net/

Thought I’d send the link your way because I love reading the comments these people have about the episodes. They catch everything! And they have some interesting thoughts on why Eko confessed to Henry Gale — are you already aware of the Wizard of Oz connections with this guy? I only ask because I’m an idiot and didn’t get it until I read about it in their comments from last week’s episode. Anyway, I recommend. I like that site because the same people seem to post every week and it’s not an unruly amount of comments to weed through.

Boo to no new LOST episodes for 3 weeks!!

  4. There were definately costumes. I was thinking more of when they were on the little boat and took Walt.
She pulled out a fake beard and a bottle of “Theatrical Glue.”
    Subtle.
What’s the link to The Transmission?

  5. See, I missed the costume part completely last night. I think my laptop’s battery went dead and I was plugging in the power when that happened, because it wasn’t no big thang. Very in the open.

I have a link to the Transmission in the original post. But I’ll post it again here:

    http://www.hawaiiup.com/lost/

They used to have a podcast, but no longer. Not sure why.

Hey Christa, glad you made it over here. I too, missed the whole Henry Gale thing initially, but then again it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the Wizard of Oz. I wouldn’t beat yourself up too hard.

  6. No, but I’ve been trying to figure out what year it is on the island. I wached the training video online the other day and was able to pause it at the very end to catch the copyright by the Hanso Foundation. 1980. So, what year does that make it?

Nothing is as it seems, much like The Wizard of Oz. Social experiment or utopia gone horribly wrong. You?

PS–I’m off the purgatory theory, completely.

  7. I can’t believe there isn’t going to be a new episode for 3 weeks. See, the show loses momentum when they do that. While Season Two has had some remarkable exciting developments, it has also been full of long drawn out vacation breaks and repeats. I think that hurts the show. Eventually people are going to start finding other things to do if they don’t provide some satisfaction.
