Wow. I wish there were more Mr. Rogers around. This touched me so deeply. He's sincere and calm and is a true example of exactly HOW to respond to Pastore's abrasiveness. I may need to link this, too.

Thanks, Ted!

Thanks for the wonderful comment Angela. I appreciate it.

I'm guessing because sincerity and sensibility doesn't market as well as cynicism and stupidity. Case in point, Mountain Dew commercials.

Oh geez. I have been sitting at this computer for an hour and a half watching some of those video clips. My face is streaked with tears and I want to spend the rest of the night watching the rest of them.
What an awesome awesome person.
The story of the lady that almost drove herself head-on into a truck and then swerved back into her lane because "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" popped into her head, well, that nearly ripped my heart out. Tim came in the room and was like, "What are you crying about?" Then he saw the monitor. He started watching too. He just sucks you in, doesn't he?
I'm sorry. I'm rambling.
Thanks so much for the link.
If everyone were like Mr. Rogers....

Oh, and about the US Senate hearing. I'm sure there would be some people today that would have waved their hand and said, "Puh. This guy is a nut job." Why must sincerity and sensibility be mistaken for weaknesses today? Thank goodness for goosebumps.

Aw, you guys are so nice. I looked all over the web for this quote by Mr. Rogers last night. Something about what children are learning on television that worries him. It was great quote. Can\'t find it. Here\'s a vid that I picked up from Waxy I think or Kottke. They\'re both good at this stuff. It\'s Fred Rogers at a US Senate hearing. You might of seen it. Gives me goosebumps too.

Both the post and the first comment are lovely. Something upon which I cannot improve, but I wanted you to know I was here.

And that I'm leaving a happier person.

Three of my favorite Mr. Roger's quotes:
~"What really matters is whether the alphabet is used for the declaration of war or for the description of a sunrise."
~"If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person."
~"There's a generous current in the American spirit. And if we can simply give voice to that once in a while, I think it's a good message."
Hey Teddy, I know I don't KNOW you, but thanks for being a generous current.
