The darkest summer, ever

It would  be nice if there were a little sun this summer. Just a peek. We’ve seen you before – you can do it. Oh! And Polaroid really likes bright sunny days. Trips out the colors, makes it 1960 again, otherwise the prints end up looking like the pages of a wet comic book. On the other hand, digital cameras seem to favor overcast days.

Last night I went to the Great River Shakespeare Festival’s Love’s Labour’s Lost (that’s a lot of apostrophes). Totally enjoyed myself. Didn’t expect that. On the way over to the theater, C_ told me that a raccoon had killed all of my dad’s chickens the other day. Apparently, the raccoon came through an unsecured window. C_ called it a massacre. I batted the word around in my head a bit and hoped my dad was OK. Later that night my mom said that the chickens were only teenagers which added a new layer to the visual in my head. Sure, the raccoon was just doing what nature had intended it to do but I guess that doesn’t lessen the horror of it. We arrived at the theater about 20 minutes before the play started. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. We were in the middle of row K. Introductions and a prelude. Theater is so darn clever. I really loved every minute of it.
