Do folks from the 60s counterculture feel like their time and energy invested in protests and activism were well spent considering that the two following decades were probably the most banal and corrupt in modern times. Was it deep backlash or a collective shrug of the shoulders? On the surface it appears that he 70s was a total rejection of 60s values and the 80s embraced that rejection wholeheartedly (greed is good).
I can’t help to think (and oh, the irony) that this sort of “romantic” idea of activism (I mean, people looked pretty awesome) was packaged and sold in 1 hour infomercial spots by Time-Life Warner and that it never really existed at all.
